For teams

The whole team
on one machine

Invite colleagues to your host: they see the same agents and the same conversations. You decide who only reads and who can steer, and you can close access in a moment.

A role for everyone

Who can do what

Owner

Runs the host and its access

  • Yes: See the host’s status, jobs, agents and conversations
  • Yes: Send messages
  • Yes: Start and cancel jobs
  • Yes: Create, change and delete agents
  • Yes: Invite people and change roles
  • Yes: Rename the host or revoke it

Editor

Works with agents and jobs

  • Yes: See the host’s status, jobs, agents and conversations
  • Yes: Send messages
  • Yes: Start and cancel jobs
  • Yes: Create, change and delete agents
  • No: Invite people and change roles
  • No: Rename the host or revoke it

Viewer

Watches, changes nothing

  • Yes: See the host’s status, jobs, agents and conversations
  • No: Send messages
  • No: Start and cancel jobs
  • No: Create, change and delete agents
  • No: Invite people and change roles
  • No: Rename the host or revoke it

A viewer sees everything an editor does, including every conversation and job result. Do not share a host whose history should stay private.

For teams

How teams use it

Team

A small dev team

One host on the team’s server. Developers, as editors, run the release and deploy agents, and the lead, as a viewer, sees what is going on.

Shift

Night duty

Someone on the team is on call at night and runs the backup and deploy agents. When the shift ends you take access back, and the connection closes at once.

Home

Home and family

A home server with agents for mail and reminders. Give the family the viewer role: they see what happens and change nothing.

How to invite a team

  1. Run movl on your own computer or server. Everything your agents do stays on it.

  2. Send an invitation by e-mail. The person accepts it in their own account and the host shows up in their list.

  3. Choose who edits and who only looks. A role can be changed at any moment.

  4. Everyone sees the same agents and conversations. When access is no longer needed, take it back: the person’s connection closes at once.

Your data stays with you

Everyone you invite works with your host. The server only learns who has access and passes the messages along.

On the server

The server stores no agents, messages or job output. The log holds only ids and roles, no addresses or codes. You can run the server yourself, too.

Keep all of it in-house

Run the movl server yourself and your team uses that one, not ours. Let only your company’s addresses create accounts.

  • The server and the host ship as Docker images
  • Sign-up limited to a list of addresses or your company’s domain
  • Sign-in codes and invitations go out through your own mail

Questions about teams

Does an invited person need an account?

Yes. They sign in to movl with their own address and the invitation shows up in their list of hosts. If your server lets only certain addresses sign up, theirs has to be on the list.

How many people can I invite?

Up to 20 people per host, counting invitations that have not been accepted yet.

Can I hand a host over to another owner?

Not yet. A host has one owner and it cannot be transferred.

Can I give access to only some agents?

No, there are no rights for single agents. A role applies to the whole host, so share a host whose agents are all open to your team.

What does a viewer see?

Everything an editor does: the host’s status, jobs and their output, agents and every conversation, past ones included. Do not share a host whose history should stay private.

What happens when the host is switched off?

The host runs on your computer or server. When it is off, people see it as offline and cannot work with it until it is back.
